Today is supposed to be the hottest day of this summer yet. Thanks to all the lovely people we met on the road, especially Rachel at Pymble Station, the ginkgo-picking madam from Beijing at Killara (I think), and the exercising ladies outside Lindfield Community Hall, and many others...
Today's walk is meant to be a prelude of what's to come next week, a fitness test to see if we are ready. I found today's walk to be quite pleasant in the sultry heat, as we crossed municipal lines and people's paths. Sylvia's pedometer clocked over 30 km by the time we got to the city.
I know though, that this was no fitness test at all. Pacific Highway cuts a clear path between low hills of Sydney's North Shore, offering little altitude challenge. For sustenance I had packed garden figs, purple sweet potato, dried tomato, fried pearl mushrooms and potato vines, but my bag was merely a few kilos, a feather compared to what we shall trudge with.
Please Sylvia, get us a camel.
Louie
